American Rivers
www.americanrivers.org
A nonprofit organization that works to preserve, protect, and restore the river ecosystems of the United States.  Cleanup of pollution, restoration of salmon runs, prevention of new dam projects, and removal of existing dams are just a few of the activities of American Rivers.

American Whitewater
www.americanwhitewater.org
Similar in some ways to American Rivers, but this organization focuses on whitewater rivers and the rights of the people who want to paddle them.  AW works to protect paddlers' access to rivers, negotiates scheduled releases on dammed rivers, and fights dam proposals on free-flowing rivers.

The Epic Kayaks Newsletter
http://www.epickayaks.com/news/news
U.S. paddler Greg Barton, a double gold medalist in flatwater sprint kayaking at the 1988 Olympic Games, and South African Oscar Chalupsky, an ocean kayak racer who has won the prestigious Molokai surf ski race in Hawaii ten times, have teamed up to form Epic Kayaks, a manufacturer of high-performance boats and paddles for touring and racing.  Whenever their busy schedules allow, they put together an e-mail newsletter with lots of good racing news and training tips.  Go to the link above to subscribe to this newsletter or read archived editions.

USA Wildwater
www.usawildwater.com
"Wildwater" is the sport of racing down a section of river with rapids of Class III or higher.  Wildwater used to be the inseparable twin of whitewater slalom racing, but since slalom returned to the Olympic program in 1992, wildwater has faded into the background somewhat.  The sport remains popular in Europe, however, and here in the U.S. a group of wildwater devotees are working hard to keep it alive.  This site is their Internet home base.
